What is the DataGrout HubSpot Marketing MCP Server?

The DataGrout HubSpot Marketing MCP Server is a native Model Context Protocol server that exposes the Marketing Hub as callable tools for AI agents. Agents can create and clone campaigns with their budgets, spend items and asset associations, build marketing emails with A/B variations, drafts, publications and revision history, create forms and audience lists, register marketing events and attendance, create workflows and folders, and search the contacts and companies those campaigns work from โ€” all through one governed endpoint that enforces side-effect policy and runs Warden preflight on every call.

116 tools across campaigns, email and audience data

Bearer access token, with optional mutual TLS

Read and write allowed, scoped by your policy

116 HubSpot Marketing tools, grouped by the work they do

The Marketing Hub is where assets, audiences and reporting meet. The groups below follow that shape; the full inventory is in your signed-in workspace.

Campaigns

The container every marketing asset reports into.

  • Create a campaign with audience, status, dates and UTM parameters
  • Clone a campaign, including its draft assets and tracking URLs
  • Create a budget item or spend item against a campaign GUID
  • Associate a campaign with an asset by asset type and asset ID

Marketing email

Build the send, then keep its history intact.

  • Create a marketing email with content, sender and recipient settings
  • Create an A/B test variation from an existing content ID
  • Create a draft from a revision, or reset the current draft
  • Create a publication, restore a revision or clone the email

Forms and audience lists

How contacts arrive, and how they are grouped.

  • Create a form with field groups, display options and legal consent
  • Create a list with processing type and configuration
  • Run a search request over lists and their membership
  • Search contacts and companies by criteria

Marketing events

Events, who attended, and what was cancelled.

  • Create a marketing event with dates, organizer and external event ID
  • Create attendance by external event ID and subscriber state
  • Create attendance by email address for a known event
  • Record a cancellation for an existing marketing event

Workflows and automation

The logic that moves a contact onward.

  • Create a workflow with name, type, object type and enrollment settings
  • Reference action details and other workflow properties in one call
  • Return the workflow identifiers the next step needs

Content organisation and CRM records

Where assets live, and the records they target.

  • Create a folder by name for asset organisation
  • Create contacts and companies singly or in batches
  • Merge duplicate contacts or companies
  • Create search requests over campaigns, contacts and companies

Connect HubSpot Marketing in four steps

Everything happens in the DataGrout Hub โ€” no code, no per-agent configuration.

  1. 1

    Open your Hub Server

In DataGrout, open the Hub Server that will carry your integrations and click Add Integration.

  2. 2

    Find HubSpot Marketing

Search for HubSpot Marketing, then select the native MCP Server integration.

  3. 3

    Connect the token and sandbox

Paste the HubSpot access token in Credentials, optionally enable mTLS, then use the Sandbox section to trial calls before they touch live marketing assets.

  4. 4

    Select tools and set policy

Expose the campaign, email and list tools the agent needs, then set side-effect and Warden policy.

Authentication

  • Access Token (Bearer)

The integration authenticates with a HubSpot access token sent as a Bearer header, entered in the Credentials section of the integration.

  • Mutual TLS

Enable mTLS in combination with the access token, or on its own when no authentication method is selected, for clients that require certificate-based transport.

  • Sandbox

A Sandbox section sits beside Credentials. It runs any marketing tool by name with its query variables and custom parameters, and returns a credit-cost estimate instead of executing the call when estimate_only is true โ€” useful before an agent publishes or clones anything.

What agents get back

Marketing Hub responses carry the asset and record IDs an agent needs to chain the next call, plus the fields that describe the object it touched.

  • Campaign GUIDs, asset types and asset IDs
  • Email IDs, content IDs and revision IDs
  • Form, list, folder and workflow identifiers
  • Event IDs, attendance records and receipts per call

Governance on every HubSpot Marketing call

The server ships with the same layered policy engine as every DataGrout integration. Security teams set the posture once; every agent inherits it.

Side-effect controls

Read and write are available. Side effects are governed by your policy, set per integration and inherited from the Hub Server above it.

Policy and interaction controls

Policy Controls carry a Warden mode dropdown (Off, Log only, Advisory, Enforce) and a minimum verdict dropdown. The integration also has its own Interaction section, and overriding the parent policy or parent interaction settings is disabled by default.

Warden preflight

Campaign and form content is written by the whole marketing team. Warden screens every call in Off, Log only, Advisory or Enforce mode before it executes.

Policy inheritance

The child can only tighten the parent. Parent permissions stay visible while the override is active, and a child integration never weakens its parent server.

Observability built in

Every execution can return a receipt, a pre-run credit estimate, a Cognitive Trust Certificate and a full execution summary โ€” so an agent's work on your HubSpot Marketing data is always explainable.

What teams run on it

Four patterns that show up again and again once a HubSpot Marketing connection is in place.

Campaign launch prep

Create the campaign with its dates, audience and UTM parameters, attach the assets it will use, and record the budget so spend has somewhere to land.

Email experimentation

Clone the control email, create an A/B variation, and keep every draft and publication on record so the revision history stays readable.

Event follow-up

Register the marketing event, reconcile attendance against the subscriber state that came in, and note the cancellations that need a human.

Audience reviews

Search the lists and the contacts inside them, compare that with the campaigns targeting them, and report where the segmentation has drifted.

HubSpot Marketing MCP Server FAQ

With a HubSpot access token sent as a Bearer header, entered in the integrationโ€™s Credentials section. Mutual TLS can be enabled alongside it, and every agent on that Hub inherits the connection.
